Anyways today I will be sharing a very simple rajma recipe. If you have no veggies at home then this is a perfect side dish for roti or rice.. I personally love to eat it with rice. It’s a very easy yet tasty recipe.
Serves : 4
Prep time: 10 mins
Cooking time : 20 minutes
Rajma – 200 grams (Soaked overnight)
Onion – 2 (Chopped finely)
Tomatoes – 2 (Chopped finely)
Ginger garlic paste – 1 tsp
Chilly powder – 1 tsp
Garam masala – 1/2 tsp (Optional)
Salt as per taste
Coriander leaves for garnishing
Cinnamon stick – 1 inch
Bay leaf – 1
Jeera – 1 tsp
Oil/butter – 2 tsp
Wash rajma thoroughly. Add five cups of water and soak it atleast for 8 hours or overnight. Rajma will double in size.
Drain the water from soaked rajma, wash it and add 2 cups of water. Add salt and pressure cook for 10 whistles. Rajma should become soft. Keep it aside.
Take a kadai add oil/butter. Now add jeera, cinnamon stick and bay leaf and saute. Add onion and ginger garlic paste and fry for a minute. Now add tomatoes and sauté till they become mushy. Add salt just for the onion and tomato masala as we have already added salt in rajma.
Now add the rajma along with the cooking liquor. Add chilly powder and garam masala. Cover and cook for 15 minutes in low flame so that rajma absorbs the masala. Now garnish it with fresh chopped coriander leaves.
Yummy rajma is ready.. Serve hot with roti, paratha or rice.
